## Summary

**Automatically raise several veterans' compensation amounts each year to match the Social Security cost‑of‑living adjustment (COLA).** This change would tie wartime disability pay, additional dependent compensation, the clothing allowance, and dependency and indemnity compensation for surviving spouses and children to the SSA COLA so benefit dollar amounts increase annually. - Veterans with wartime disability pay would see their base rates adjusted each December 1 to match the SSA COLA. The change also covers additional compensation for dependents and the clothing allowance. - Surviving spouses and children who receive dependency and indemnity compensation would get annual COLA‑linked increases to their DIC rates. - The Secretary of Veterans Affairs must publish the adjusted amounts each year when SSA publishes its COLA and may administratively adjust certain legacy rates for persons under Public Law 85‑857. The annual adjustment would take effect 180 days after enactment.
