## Summary

**This bill would expand Post-9/11 educational benefits by granting extra months of educational assistance to complete remedial and deficiency coursework.** It would also let service members without dependents reserve and later assign part of their transferability to new dependents. - Veterans and student veterans who exhaust their Post-9/11 entitlement while taking remedial or deficiency courses could receive extra months equal to the lesser of 15 months or the time needed to finish those courses, as determined by the Secretary. To qualify they must have used all their entitlement and need more than the standard 120 semester credit hours to complete their program. - Members of the Armed Forces without current dependents could designate an unspecified future dependent to receive a portion of their Post-9/11 entitlement and finalize the designation when they later have an eligible dependent. - The total period someone may receive assistance would be capped at 48 months plus any additional months granted for remedial or deficiency coursework under the bill.
