## Summary

**A federal push to combat invasive mussels in the Great Lakes.** The bill directs the U.S. Section of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission to develop coordinated efforts with federal agencies, interstate compacts, and Tribal, State, and local governments to address invasive mussel species. - Great Lakes Fishery Commission: Gains authority to design and lead basinwide mussel-mitigation efforts and to receive federal support for those efforts. - Federal agencies: The Department of the Interior, through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the U.S. Geological Survey, and the Department of Commerce, through NOAA, are assigned to assist the U.S. Section in developing those efforts. - Funding and scope: Authorizes $500 million for fiscal years 2026 through 2035 to carry out this section, with amounts available to the Commission and added on top of amounts under section 13. *Authorizes up to $500 million in new appropriations for FY2026–2035 to support invasive-mussel mitigation through the Commission.*
