## Summary

**Allows State highway specifications to be used for airfield pavement at smaller, nonprimary airports.** The bill would let the Secretary of Transportation approve a State's highway pavement standards for projects that serve aircraft up to 60,000 pounds, as long as the Secretary finds no safety harm and the State notifies DOT. - Nonprimary airports and operators would be able to rely on State highway specs for pavement projects for aircraft up to 60,000 pounds, potentially speeding repairs and construction. - State transportation agencies can notify the Secretary that their nonprimary airports intend to use highway standards, starting the federal review and approval process. - The Secretary must make a safety determination within 6 months of a State notice and may extend that period by 6 months with notice and justification, with additional extensions allowed. - The authority is tied to funds made available under the same subsection or subsection (c)(1)(D), linking the flexibility to existing grant funding.
