## Summary

**Creates a standardized, modular documentation template and technical guidance for AI models.** This bill would direct the National Institute of Standards and Technology to run a pilot to produce a flexible template and technical guidelines for documenting AI models and associated data used by public and private organizations. - AI developers would get a modular checklist to record items like model name, developer identity and location, release date, training-data knowledge cutoff, languages supported, and terms of service. - Public sector users would have a common format to document models they build or use, helping oversight and comparisons across agencies. - Researchers, standards groups, and industry would see technical guidelines that include relevant metrics or benchmarks and that draw on voluntary consensus standards and best practices. - The process requires NIST to publish a draft in the Federal Register, allow at least a 60-day public comment period, and report to specified House and Senate committees and post final materials on its website within 12 months if the pilot is judged effective.
