## Summary

**Limits Department of Defense support for civilian law enforcement.** This bill would create a new statutory process that forces advance justification and oversight before DOD or federal law enforcement personnel assist civilian police, sets a short cap on mission length, bans most dual service, and creates a private right to sue. - Service members and dual-role workers: Prohibits most people from serving in the Department of Defense and in civilian law enforcement at the same time. Certain reserve members may keep civilian police jobs but must recuse if activated for duty. - Local police departments and cities: Requires detailed pre-approval notices with budget, timeline and milestones, funding and sustainment plans, outcome metrics, and records of support from the prior 3 fiscal years. DOD support may not continue past 30 days unless Congress approves a longer period. - Individuals, states, and local governments: Allows anyone aggrieved by a violation to sue the federal government in federal court and seek injunctions or damages.
