## Summary

**Triennial Inspector General reviews of merger processing** would require the Inspector General at each federal depository institution regulator to assess how the agency handles insured depository institution merger applications every three years. Reviews must measure mean and median processing times, identify sources of delay, weigh benefits and risks of different review approaches, and evaluate effects on safety and soundness, financial stability, competition, and access to financial products and services. Each review must produce a public report to Congress and prompt a written agency response with a plan to implement appropriate recommendations.
