## Summary

**Creates a federally authorized memorial in Washington, D.C., honoring U.S. citizens and legal residents killed by individuals unlawfully present in the United States.** It would let The American Border Story establish the commemorative work on Federal land in the District of Columbia and its environs under the Commemorative Works Act and forbids use of Federal funds to pay any expense of establishing the memorial. - Families of victims: A federally recognized site in the D.C. area gives a dedicated place to honor loved ones who died in crimes committed by unlawfully present individuals. - The American Border Story and private donors: Must fund the memorial privately and provide required maintenance and preservation amounts under the Commemorative Works Act. Any remaining establishment funds must be transmitted to the Secretary of the Interior and, after authority expires, may be moved to a National Park Foundation memorial account as specified by law. - Federal agencies: The bill sets how deposited funds are handled by the Secretary of the Interior or the Administrator of General Services under existing statutes and prohibits federal funding for the memorial's establishment.
