## Summary

**Creates a Temporary Family Visitation nonimmigrant visa** that would let a wide range of relatives enter the U.S. briefly for social, religious, or major life events while requiring financial support, health insurance, and a firm promise to leave. The stay would be limited to 90 days per calendar year and come with certification and fraud penalties for false statements. - Families and relatives: Broadly defined relatives including spouses, children, parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews could seek short visits for family events. Visits would be capped at 90 days per calendar year and require short-term travel medical insurance or equivalent international coverage. - Petitioners and sponsors: U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents must file a declaration of financial support or name an additional sponsor. Repeat petitioners who previously sponsored an overstayer must certify no overstay occurred or explain extraordinary circumstances, and false statements carry criminal penalties under 18 U.S.C. 1001. - Immigration rules and enforcement: The Department of Homeland Security could waive certain overstay bars for extraordinary circumstances. Change-of-status rules would be revised and people awaiting an immigrant visa could be admitted under this family-purpose category without that admission counting against numeric limits for adjustment of status.
