## Summary

**Creates a federal grant program to pay for safe, verifiable destruction of firearms and all their parts.** This bill would let the Attorney General award competitive two-year grants to States, Tribal governments, local governments, and law enforcement to buy equipment, hire destruction services, and train staff. - State, Tribal, local governments and law enforcement: Eligible entities would apply for two-year grants and must certify they will fully destroy firearms and keep destruction records. Subgrants can flow to units of local government or law enforcement. - Community partners and private contractors: Applicants must describe community partners and contractors. Grants may pay contractors that fully destroy firearms, including frames, barrels, and accessories. - Program rules and funding limits: The program would limit administrative use to 10% of funds and require one-third of funding be reserved for applicants in a Metropolitan Statistical Area or rural areas. Grants may buy or maintain smelting, shredding, cutting, or crushing equipment and pay for staff training. *Would authorize $15.0 million per year in appropriations for fiscal years 2026 through 2031 to carry out these grants.*
