## Summary

**This bill would create a nationwide HUD testing program to detect and document housing discrimination.** It would also fund enforcement, research, and local pilot projects aimed at discrimination that affects veterans, women, families with children, people with disabilities, and communities of color. - Families, renters, homebuyers, and mortgage applicants would get more systematic testing and data collection to expose differential treatment by race, sex, familial status, disability, or national origin. - Fair housing enforcement groups would receive bigger, targeted funding through the Fair Housing Initiatives Program with $42.5 million authorized per year and most of that money reserved for private enforcement work. - Public and private nonprofit organizations could get matching grants (50 percent non‑Federal match) to study causes and effects of discrimination and run pilot solutions, with $5.0 million authorized per year for those grants; grantees may not use funds for political advocacy. *This bill would authorize about $62.5 million per year for FY2024–2028 and thus increase federal spending by roughly that amount annually.*
