## Summary

**A federal study of geoengineering harms.** This bill would direct the Secretary of Energy to identify negative human health and environmental effects from covered geoengineering projects. Covered projects are those funded in whole or in part by the federal government or involving federal participation. "Geoengineering" is defined to include injecting metal‑based aerosols or sulfates into the atmosphere and spraying sea salt into low marine clouds, plus similar technologies the Secretary identifies. The Secretary would coordinate with federal and state agencies, finish the study within 180 days of enactment, and report results to Congress within one year after the study ends.
