## Summary

**AI to reduce administrative burden in health care.** This bill directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to study how artificial intelligence can streamline clerical and administrative tasks across providers and health plans while protecting patient privacy and data security. - Patients and families: The study will evaluate how AI can improve the accuracy, timeliness, and interoperability of patient records and how to ensure compliance with HIPAA and National Institute of Standards and Technology security guidance to guard against breaches and ransomware. - Health care providers and plans: It will identify strategies to cut paperwork and speed operational tasks like scheduling, claims processing, documentation, and prior authorization. - HHS and lawmakers: HHS must consult technical and civil rights experts, assess existing AI tools, recommend research and pilot programs, and report findings and policy options to Congress.
