## Summary

**A federal study of AI's effects on telecommunications security.** This bill would require the Secretary of Commerce to analyze how artificial intelligence can both strengthen and threaten U.S. telecom networks and to deliver findings to Congress within one year. - Telecommunications companies and network operators would receive a federal analysis of how AI can boost defenses through real-time threat and malware detection, zero-trust solutions, resiliency, energy efficiency, Open Radio Access Network (Open RAN) integration, virtualized security, firewalls, and network segmentation. - Federal agencies and lawmakers would be consulted and would get a report to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation within one year, which may include legislative recommendations. - Industry stakeholders and the public would be invited to participate in consultations and would have an opportunity to submit public comments before the report is finalized. - Researchers and standards bodies would see the study examine AI-related research and development, interoperability, and integrated sensing and communications to inform technical and policy options.
