## Summary

**10-year exemption for hazardous fuel reduction on Federal land.** This bill would let agencies treat many prescribed burns, thinning, fuel breaks, and related actions as exempt from several environmental laws and would require EPA to exclude monitoring data from those activities when deciding if air-quality standards were exceeded. - Federal land managers could carry out prescribed fire, mechanical thinning, fuel breaks, and wildland fire use without NEPA major-action review and without complying with the Endangered Species Act, the National Historic Preservation Act, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, and the Migratory Bird Conservation Act for 10 years. - Nearby communities would face the practical effect that EPA must exclude air-monitoring data directly caused by these hazardous fuel reduction activities when determining exceedances of the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). - Plants, listed species, migratory birds, and historic sites on Federal land would be treated outside the listed protections for activities defined as hazardous fuel reduction during the 10-year exemption.

## Provisions PRIA read

Those projects would not be treated as a "major Federal action" under NEPA. Agencies could carry out this work without following the Endangered Species Act or the National Historic…
