## Summary

**Prioritizes federal funding for companion-animal emergency preparedness.** This bill would add a new "Pet and Animal Preparedness" subsection to the Post‑Katrina Emergency Management Reform Act and let state, local, and tribal governments use Section 662 grants to buy supplies, equipment, software, and training that support pets during disasters. - State, local, and tribal governments: Would be able to use grant funds for pet-focused purchases and activities and receive a higher federal share for those uses — 90% for the new pet activities versus the existing 50% baseline for other Section 662 grants. - Emergency responders and animal teams: Could purchase collapsible crates, mobile equipment trailers, emergency generators, field rescue gear, disaster response software, and fund team development and training. - Pet owners and households: Expands access to emergency sheltering equipment, veterinary and animal health supplies, and pet-support services that make evacuations and shelters more accommodating for companion animals.
