## Summary

**Stronger vetting and tracking of sponsors for unaccompanied migrant children.** This bill would require the Department of Health and Human Services to share detailed sponsor information with the Department of Homeland Security, verify living arrangements in person, require bonds and monitoring for some sponsors, and report missing children when follow up fails. - Families and children: Parents would be contacted using available information and any child whose sponsor cannot be reached within 120 days would be reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. - Sponsors and household members: Sponsors must provide detailed identity and contact information, submit background checks for all adult household members, and non-U.S. citizen sponsors would need to consent to electronic monitoring that may include GPS. - Immigration and enforcement: DHS would get sponsor data, promptly check immigration status, and could consider initiating removal proceedings for sponsors found to be unlawfully present and not already in proceedings. - State and local agencies: Within 30 days of placement HHS would give the sponsor information and other child-related records to the appropriate state or local health or welfare agency.
