## Summary

**Strengthens clinical oversight and ties federal funding to stricter rules for abortion providers.** It would place new requirements on doctors who perform abortions and on clinics that get federal money. - Physicians: Doctors who perform abortions would have to hold admitting privileges at a hospital within 15 miles of their main office and the abortion site. They would also have to tell patients which hospital can provide follow-up care if complications arise, and knowingly failing to comply could bring a fine or up to 2 years in prison. - Clinics: To receive federal funds or assistance, an abortion clinic would have to be licensed by its state and meet federal ambulatory surgical center standards, with limited structural waivers allowed by a state board of health as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. - Patients: A woman who undergoes an abortion would not be prosecuted under this provision.
