## Summary

**Retroactive disability payments for veterans who experienced military sexual trauma.** This bill would add Section 5114 to title 38 so that VA compensation awards tied to military sexual trauma use an effective date of the day after the veteran’s discharge and require monetary benefits to be paid retroactively from that date, overriding the usual timing rules in sections 5110 and 5111. It adopts existing statutory definitions for military sexual trauma and for covered mental health conditions and also covers physical injuries or diseases caused or aggravated by MST.
