## Summary

**Bans soda purchases with SNAP benefits.** This bill would amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to add “soda” to the list of items ineligible for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits. It defines soda as a carbonated beverage that contains more than 1 gram of added sugar, artificial sweetener, or flavoring per serving. The restriction would take effect 180 days after enactment.
