## Summary

**Withholds Members of Congress' pay for days a government shutdown lasts.** This bill would require House and Senate payroll administrators to reduce a Member's pay for a pay period by one day's pay for each 24-hour period of a shutdown that falls in that pay period. The Treasury Secretary must provide assistance to help carry out the payroll adjustments. The rule would apply to the 120th Congress and each succeeding Congress and defines a shutdown as a lapse in appropriations for any federal agency or department.
