## Summary

**Expands Medicare to cover 'Home Resiliency Services' for people who are medically at-risk in climate or manmade disasters.** It defines which home devices and services count, sets payment rules, and creates an agency process to decide who qualifies. - Medicare beneficiaries who are medically at-risk can receive medically necessary home items and services to reduce disaster risk. Examples include heat pumps, solar batteries for power-dependent medical equipment, and energy-efficient cold storage for heat-sensitive medical supplies. - Providers and suppliers will be paid 100 percent of the lesser of the actual charge or an amount from a fee schedule the Secretary sets specifically for these Home Resiliency Services. - The Secretary must consult the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to define who is medically at-risk. That process must consider geography-specific climate risks, a 20-year lookback and 20-year projection of hazards, reliance on powered medical equipment, and chronic conditions. Coverage applies to services furnished on or after January 1, 2027 and the text includes no sunset.
