## Summary

**Creates a federal crime for knowingly approaching a federal law enforcement officer after a warning.** The bill would add Section 1522 to Title 18 making it illegal to approach or remain within 15 feet of a federal law enforcement officer who is lawfully performing duties after a verbal warning when the person intends to impede the officer, threaten physical harm, or harass the officer. Harass is defined as a course of conduct directed at an officer that intentionally causes substantial emotional distress and serves no legitimate purpose. Violators could face a fine, up to 5 years in prison, or both.
