## Summary

**Blocks federal funds to jurisdictions that substantially eliminate cash bail for certain crimes.** This bill would make state and local governments ineligible for federal funding if the Attorney General determines they have largely removed secured monetary conditions of pretrial release for a covered offense. It defines cash bail as secured monetary conditions including cash payments, secured bonds, or sureties. Covered offenses include crimes of violence, sex offenses, indecent acts, crimes involving moral turpitude, burglary, vandalism, looting, and other offenses the Attorney General designates. The Attorney General would publish determinations and explanations at least quarterly and a jurisdiction could regain funding either 180 days after an initial disqualification or once the Attorney General finds it no longer substantially eliminates cash bail.
