## Summary

**Notifying a loved one when someone held by CBP or ICE is released.** This bill would require officers to offer detainees the option to name a point of contact at intake and to notify that person before the detainee leaves custody, with language help for both parties. - Families and friends would be notified before a detainee is released, and officials must attempt contact at least twice. Notifications are required except when someone has been held at a port of entry for less than 12 hours. - Detainees would be given the chance to designate a contact when taken into custody, and they must be offered translation and interpretation in their chosen language for that request. - Designated points of contact would receive release notices in their chosen language. Information collected under the rule could not be used for enforcement purposes.
