## Summary

**Require planners to map transportation vulnerabilities to natural disasters.** This bill would make metropolitan planning organizations and state transportation planners identify which existing transportation facilities are most vulnerable to natural disasters that occur frequently in their area, which facilities are most necessary to keep operating during and soon after a disaster, and the improvement projects needed to maintain those operations. - Metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) must add a natural disaster vulnerability section to metropolitan transportation plans. That section must list vulnerable facilities, those critical to keep operating, and the projects needed to preserve service. - State and nonmetropolitan transportation planning must include the same vulnerability identification in statewide plans. States must name vulnerable facilities, the ones needed to maintain operations, and the improvement projects required. - Planning documents will now include vulnerability data used for project prioritization and funding decisions. That makes resilience and critical-route maintenance a defined input for future infrastructure choices.
