## Summary

**Eliminates prior authorization for repairs to certain complex rehabilitation wheelchairs under Medicare Advantage.** It would bar Medicare Advantage plans from requiring prior authorization, prescription, or medical documentation for ongoing repairs to complex rehabilitative technology while preserving checks for initial medical-necessity evaluations and for some full replacements. - Medicare Advantage enrollees who use complex rehabilitation technology, including certain power and complex manual wheelchairs and related accessories, would get faster repairs and less paperwork. - Repair shops and medical equipment suppliers would face fewer administrative delays when fixing covered wheelchairs and could deliver service to patients more quickly. - Medicare Advantage plans would no longer be able to require prior authorization for routine repairs, but could still require authorization for the initial medical-necessity evaluation and for replacement after loss, irreparable damage, or when the item reaches its reasonable useful lifetime or after five years.
