## Summary

**Study whether engagement with VA chaplaincy and other faith-based programs affects veterans' suicide risk.** This bill would require the Department of Veterans Affairs to codify the National Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report and to conduct a two-year study that tracks chaplain engagement and suicide-related outcomes. - Veterans would get protections: chaplain services remain voluntary, veterans must be informed about data collection, and no data may compromise medical records or protected religious communications. - VA chaplaincy and facilities would need to define measurable engagement categories such as group activities, outreach events, and non-confidential interactions, and track veterans' use of chaplain-involved mental health services across Department facilities during the two-year study. - Congressional veterans' committees would receive the codified annual suicide-prevention report and briefings, plus study reports within 90 days after each study year that summarize data, analyze trends, list programs with measurable effects, and recommend improvements to data collection and resource allocation.
