## Summary

**H. pylori testing during transition to civilian life.** The bill would require the Secretary of Defense to submit, within 180 days, a report to congressional Armed Services committees that contains a plan, a cost estimate, and a feasibility study for implementing testing for Helicobacter pylori during the period when a service member is transitioning to civilian life. The cost estimate must cover breath and stool-based testing methods. - Transitioning service members: The Defense Department would study how to screen them for H. pylori and how breath and stool tests could be used during transition. - Department of Defense: Would have to produce a plan, cost estimate, and feasibility study for implementing such testing and deliver it to the Armed Services committees within 180 days. - Physicians and specialists: The Secretary may seek input from gastroenterologists and other clinicians with H. pylori and screening expertise to shape the plan.
