## Summary

**Grants Temporary Protected Status to Afghan nationals** and sets rules for fast application processing, work authorization, travel in emergencies, and fee waivers tied to that designation. - Afghan nationals and families: People who have been continuously physically present in the United States since the date of enactment would be eligible to register for Temporary Protected Status, submit biometric and background checks, and seek employment authorization through July 1, 2029. Eligible applicants who qualify only because of this designation could have filing fees waived. - Workers and employers: Approved applicants would be able to obtain work authorization, giving employers access to newly authorized workers once DHS issues employment documents. - Department of Homeland Security obligations: DHS would have to receive and process TPS and work-authorization applications and complete adjudication within 90 days of receipt. The Secretary could extend an individual applicant's adjudication by up to 150 days for national security reasons after certifying that need to the House and Senate Judiciary Committees. - Travel rules: The bill would allow brief, temporary trips abroad for emergencies with prior DHS consent and treat returning applicants like other TPS recipients under existing law.
