## Summary

**Would honor the service and sacrifice of Americans who served in the war in Afghanistan.** The resolution notes more than 800,000 U.S. service members deployed to Afghanistan, 2,461 service members died, and more than 20,000 were wounded, including lasting physical and mental injuries. It would solemnly remember those who died, including the 13 killed at Abbey Gate on August 26, 2021. It would express gratitude to veterans, Gold Star families, and military families and would reaffirm the federal need to provide timely, comprehensive support and care to Afghanistan veterans and their families.
