## Summary

**Honors Jose Moreno Hernandez for his perseverance and his contributions to space exploration and STEM.** This resolution would recognize his rise from French Camp, California, as the son of immigrant farmworkers, his electrical engineering degrees, and his work at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory on the first full-field digital mammography system. It would note his selection to NASA's 19th astronaut class after eleven applications and his 2009 Space Shuttle Discovery STS-128 mission where he supported experiments and extravehicular activity. It would also highlight his later work as an educator, author, and advocate for Hispanic representation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
