## Summary

**Would create a targeted federal weight exemption so certain logging trucks can exceed interstate weight limits when hauling raw or unfinished forest products on short trips.** This change would require the Secretary of Transportation to waive the application of any vehicle weight limit in Section 127 for a "covered logging vehicle." A covered logging vehicle would carry raw or unfinished forest products such as logs, pulpwood, biomass, or wood chips, travel no more than 150 air miles on the Interstate System from origin to a storage or processing facility, and meet the state legal weight tolerances and vehicle configurations where it operates. The waiver would apply only with respect to the state legal weight tolerance in effect on the date of enactment.
