## Summary

**Stronger local and tribal collaboration on ocean and coastal acidification research and planning.** This bill would require the Commerce Secretary, acting through NOAA, to partner with States, Indian Tribes, Native Hawaiian organizations, and local stakeholders on vulnerability assessments, research planning, and monitoring. - Indian Tribes and Native Hawaiian organizations would get formal roles and consultation rights, including two advisory board seats and a required tribal engagement policy developed through consultation within one year. - Coastal communities and fishery managers would receive more coordinated support for community vulnerability assessments and research planning as NOAA would build on local work and model successful approaches for other communities. - Industry members, non-Federal scientists, and coastal stakeholders would gain an ongoing input mechanism, such as a liaison, standing meetings, or an online platform, to shape research, data, and monitoring for on-the-ground management and adaptation. - Underserved populations and entities would be prioritized when NOAA allocates resources for acidification and coastal acidification work.
