## Summary

This bill would **allow Border States to place temporary, movable structures on federal lands adjacent to the U.S.–Canada and U.S.–Mexico borders** to help secure those border areas. It sets notice rules, time limits, and an extension process tied to a Customs and Border Protection operational control determination. - Border States would be able to place movable, temporary structures on Federal land for up to 1 year. Extensions would be allowed in 90-day increments if U.S. Customs and Border Protection determines operational control has not been achieved. - Department of the Interior agencies and the Forest Service would not be allowed to require a special use authorization for these temporary placements if a 45-day notice is provided. The covered agencies include the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service, and the Forest Service. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection would consult on extension requests and apply the Secure Fence Act definition of “operational control” when deciding whether to approve 90-day renewals.
