## Summary

**Allows 529 plans to cover aviation maintenance and commercial pilot training.** This bill would expand the list of qualified higher education expenses to include tuition, fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for aircraft maintenance programs under 14 CFR Part 147 and for commercial pilot courses taught at flight schools under Part 61 or Part 141. - Students and families would be able to use 529 plan withdrawals for tuition, fees, books, supplies, and required equipment for aviation maintenance and commercial pilot courses. - Flight schools and aviation maintenance schools that meet the cited Federal Aviation Administration rules would likely be easier to afford for trainees, which could widen access to aviation career training. - 529 account owners could name trainees as designated beneficiaries and take qualified distributions for these expenses. The change would apply to distributions made after enactment.
