## Summary

**Expanded cross-area disaster assistance** would let Small Business Administration resource partners provide disaster recovery help to small businesses outside their usual service areas to speed local recovery. It would also require coordination, shared information, and inclusion of resource partners in disaster planning. - Small businesses in disaster zones would get more help from experienced counselors and advisors even if those counselors are based outside the local service area. Assistance can last up to 2 years after a disaster and the SBA Administrator may extend that period. - Resource partners would be allowed to use SBA-designated sites and facilities to serve affected areas and must coordinate with the local partner that serves the area to help ensure continuity of services. - Disaster loan applicants would see wider outreach because the SBA must share loan information with resource partners and add links to partners' websites so partners can amplify public awareness. - Federal, state, local, and regional coordination guidelines would explicitly include SBA resource partners so those partners are part of disaster planning and interagency response.
