## Summary

**Give U.S. agriculture a formal role in foreign investment reviews and expand scrutiny of deals that could lead to foreign control.** The bill would bring farm systems and supply chains squarely into national security reviews and boost federal study of foreign influence in agriculture. - Farmers and agricultural businesses would face expanded review when foreign investments could result in foreign control. Transactions proposed, pending, or completed after enactment would get higher CFIUS scrutiny. - Agricultural supply chains and related technologies would be defined as "critical infrastructure" and added to the list of critical technologies. That raises the stakes for deals involving seeds, processing, distribution, or other key agricultural systems. - The Secretary of Agriculture would gain a seat on the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States. The Department of Agriculture and the Government Accountability Office would each produce a report within one year analyzing foreign investments, threats, and espionage risks to U.S. agriculture.
