## Summary

**Broadens which hospitals can qualify as Rural Emergency Hospitals.** This bill would amend the Social Security Act to fix the reference date for rural designation at January 1, 2014 and to treat hospitals already designated rural by the Health Resources and Services Administration's Office of Rural Health Policy as eligible, thereby expanding the pool of facilities that meet rural emergency hospital criteria.
