**This bill would require the Secretary of Commerce to study whether the United States can manufacture the products needed to build and maintain the nation's critical infrastructure.** The study centers on **domestic manufacturing for critical infrastructure** and on identifying which high-demand items the U.S. currently imports. - It would identify high-demand, import-reliant products across the 16 critical infrastructure sectors and analyze costs, job effects, employment rates, labor conditions, and product price. The study must be completed within 1 year. - It would assess which identified products feasibly may be manufactured in the United States and analyze impediments to doing so in rural areas, industrial parks, and industrial parks in rural areas. - It would require an unclassified report to Congress with recommendations within 18 months, allow a classified annex, and require the Commerce Department to publish the unclassified report online. The Secretary would not have authority to compel private parties to provide information.
