## Summary

**Separate Medicare payments for blood transfusions for hospice patients** would be tested by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation to see how paying transfusions outside the hospice per diem affects care and use of services. The test would set payment equal to the amount that would apply if the transfusion were not provided as part of hospice care and CMMI would run and evaluate the model.
