## Summary

**This bill would require asylum applicants to apply at U.S. ports of entry.** It would also bar parole for those port-of-entry applicants while their claims are pending and restrict asylum for people apprehended after entering without inspection or overstaying. - People seeking asylum at the U.S. border must present themselves at a port of entry and could not be released into the country while their claim is decided. - Individuals apprehended inside the United States after entering without inspection or who remained beyond an authorized stay would be ineligible for asylum under this law. - Applicants rejected for asylum would be barred from filing again, removing the current option to reapply in changed or extraordinary circumstances. - The Department of Homeland Security would share administration of asylum rules with the Attorney General, reflecting an expanded DHS role in processing and enforcement.
