## Summary

**Creates a centralized Checkpoint Program Management Office (CPMO) within U.S. Border Patrol** to standardize checkpoint governance, require consistent data collection and reporting, and set regular oversight and training rules while including privacy and surveillance inventories. The measure also sets a five-year sunset and does not authorize additional funding. - Border Patrol personnel would get clearer leadership, required training, and standard operating procedures. The Chief must name an Assistant Chief to run the CPMO and issue guidance within 180 days. - Checkpoint operations would face new data and review requirements. The bill would require collection of apprehensions, seizures, secondary inspection info, and an 180-day plan to improve data quality, plus annual data reports and a GAO effectiveness review. - Privacy and surveillance oversight would increase for communities and policymakers. DHS and CBP would have to list surveillance technologies, describe use and storage, report recurring costs, and provide privacy impact assessments. *Would not authorize additional funds for implementation and would cease to have effect five years after enactment.*
