## Summary

**Creates a new deportation ground for non-U.S. nationals convicted of assaulting law enforcement, firefighters, or other first responders.** This change ties deportability to assaults that occur while an officer is on duty, because of the officer’s duties, or because of the officer’s status. - Non-U.S. nationals ("aliens" under federal law) who are convicted of, or admit to, acts meeting the essential elements of an offense involving assault of a law enforcement officer, firefighter, or other first responder would be deportable. - The Department of Homeland Security must publish an annual report on its website showing the number of people deported in the previous fiscal year under this new deportation ground.
