## Summary

**Stops hidden auto-renewals**. This bill would require clear, conspicuous disclosures for automatic renewals and free-to-pay conversions, obtain express informed consent before charging, provide simple cancellation tools, and void and refund renewals that violate the rules. - Consumers would get notice at least 7 days before a renewal or before a free trial converts to a paid plan, an easy online cancellation method and contact options, and must give annual express informed consent before being charged. - Sellers would have to disclose renewal terms prominently, avoid "dark patterns", obtain express consent, and refund consumers when automatic renewal rules are violated. - The Federal Trade Commission would enforce the requirements under the FTC Act, use its existing penalties and rulemaking authority, and may create targeted exemptions or rules to implement the law.

- Stronger rules for auto-renewals: benefit, low. If enacted, this would require clear contract disclosures for subscriptions and auto-renewals. Sellers would must tell you and show how to cancel. You would get a notice at least 7 days before each renewal. Sellers would need an easy online cancel method and another low-cost option. The bill would…
- Service contracts may be exempted: cost, low. If enacted, this would allow the FTC to exempt service contracts from the bill's notice, cancellation, consent, and refund rules. That could mean fewer notices, harder cancellation, or fewer refund rights for those contracts. The exemptions would take effect one year after enactment.
