## Summary

This bill would create a Shark Depredation Task Force to **tackle shark depredation**. It pairs a federal task force inside the Department of Commerce with authorized research projects to coordinate fisheries managers, state agencies, and scientists on causes, prevention, and outreach. - Fishing communities and anglers would get coordinated guidance and educational materials aimed at reducing harmful interactions, including strategies for changing angler behavior and testing non-lethal deterrents. - Researchers and resource managers would get a cleared list of research priorities. That list includes identifying which shark species are involved, improving shark stock assessments, studying shark habituation to humans, linking angler behavior and regulations to interactions, and examining climate-driven shifts in shark populations and prey. - Federal and state fisheries bodies would be pulled into one committee. Membership includes representatives from each Regional Fishery Management Council, each Marine Fisheries Commission, coastal State fish and wildlife agencies, and the National Marine Fisheries Service plus subject-matter experts. The task force must report to Congress every 2 years and ends no later than 7 years after it starts.
