## Summary

**Expands and standardizes local immigration enforcement under section 287(g)** by shifting authority to the Secretary of Homeland Security and spelling out how states and local agencies can join, train officers, get federal funding, and report results. This bill would reorganize approvals, oversight, and funding for local partnerships that perform immigration officer functions. - State and local law enforcement: Local or State agencies could enter written agreements, at their own expense, to let qualified officers carry out immigration investigations, arrests, detentions, and transport. Requests must be processed quickly, generally within 90 days, and no cap would limit the number of agreements. - Communities and officers: The agreements would let local officers perform functions of an immigration officer, including investigating, apprehending, detaining, and transporting noncitizens across State lines to detention centers. - Department of Homeland Security oversight and funding: The bill would require uniform training aligned with Federal Law Enforcement Training Center standards, rename and expand the detention/bond fund to cover 287(g) administration, and mandate annual reports and a recruitment plan. DHS must publish a notice of rulemaking on training within 180 days.
