## Summary

**A federal grant fund to help provide free legal representation for low-income tenants facing eviction.** The bill would create the Eviction Right to Counsel Fund and offer grants to States, localities, and tribal governments that enact or are responsible for implementing right-to-counsel laws. - Families and tenants: Tenants with income at or below 200 percent of the Federal poverty line would be covered for legal help in eviction actions and in proceedings that end housing subsidies. - State, local, and tribal governments: Eligible governments could apply for grants to implement right-to-counsel laws. The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development would prioritize jurisdictions that limit eviction causes, require at least 30 days' written notice, run eviction diversion programs, or provide emergency rental assistance. - Legal service providers and attorneys: Grant funds may pay for attorney recruitment, training, and other costs of providing representation to covered individuals in covered proceedings. *Would authorize $100 million per year for fiscal years 2026–2030, totaling $500 million in federal appropriations for grants.*
