## Summary

**Would bar people convicted of misdemeanor hate crimes from obtaining firearms**. The Disarm Hate Act would add misdemeanor hate-crime convictions and enhanced misdemeanor hate-crime sentences to the federal list of firearm disqualifications. - People convicted of misdemeanor hate crimes would be disqualified if the offense was a misdemeanor under Federal, State, or Tribal law, involved physical force, the threatened use of a deadly weapon, or another credible threat, and was motivated by bias against race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. - Gun sellers and firearm transfers would be affected because the bill amends 18 U.S.C. 922(d) and 922(g) to bar sale, shipment, possession, or transport by those individuals. - Certain convictions or enhanced misdemeanor sentences would be excluded when the record shows the person lacked counsel or did not knowingly waive jury or counsel rights, or when the conviction has been expunged, set aside, pardoned, or civil rights were restored and the relief does not expressly bar firearms.
