## Summary

**Permanent ban on using U.S. foreign assistance and Peace Corps funds for abortions and involuntary sterilizations.** The American Values Act would extend prohibitions across the foreign assistance framework and the Peace Corps and would also bar funding for related biomedical research and lobbying. - People in recipient countries: U.S. foreign assistance could not pay for abortions as a method of family planning, nor pay for involuntary sterilization or provide financial incentives to undergo sterilizations. - NGOs and health providers: Organizations could be ineligible for financing if, as determined by the President, they support or participate in coercive abortion or involuntary sterilization programs. - Peace Corps volunteers and program funds: Funds authorized for the Peace Corps could not be used to pay for abortions, subject to the cross-reference to section 614 of the 2014 Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act.
